MISSION: POTENTIAL (Malay: MISI: POTENSI) is the ninth episode of Agent Ali. It airs in 11th November 2016 on TV3.
Synopsis[]
Since the previous episode, Rizwan is now Ali's mentor and he must train him to be a better agent despite he has doubts on Ali.
Plot[]
Part 1[]
The episode begins with Agent Rizwan hanging from the ceiling upside down in a dark room. Smoothly he freed himself and landed and knocked on the door to attract the guard's attention. The guard who came in to check on Rizwan was pinched from behind and tied to a chair. Carefully Rizwan headed to the room at the end of the corridor without being detected. Arriving at the door of the room, he knocked down two of his guards with a lollipop stick. He entered a dark room, locked the door and found a safe. Before he could open it, several more guards came and crashed the door with a crowbar. Rizwan hides in the ceiling, then comes down and pinches them all and steals the briefcase from the safe.
Rizwan's actions were witnessed by Ali in the M.A.T.A control room monitor. He is accompanied by Jenny who explains that this is a simulation program that trains INVISO agents in stealth techniques. Agent Rizwan returned to the control room with a briefcase, which was a bonus from the training earlier. Ali praises Rizwan's greatness; Rizwan threw the bag at Ali and said it was Ali's turn. Ali asked for permission to bring Comot once, but was refused.
As with Agent Rizwan, Ali started in a state tied upside down. He broke free but crashed. Ali woke up and groaned in the body, while the guard outside attracted attention and snapped. Ali asked to restart the simulation but the guards had already crashed in, so Ali had to yoyo and attack them.
The first attempt obviously did not go well; Rizwan reprimands Ali's reckless and unprepared attitude by telling him that the enemy will not wait for him to be ready. Ali admitted that he had made a mistake; Rizwan frowned and ordered that not everything will go smoothly in the real mission, so he should stay calm even in critical moments and never lose focus. In a firm tone, Rizwan added that there was no point in wearing I.R.I.S. if the wearer cannot play a role, after all M.A.T.A. needs an agent capable of mastering the I.R.I.S, so "don't waste our time." Ali who was heartbroken apologized. Rizwan tells Ali to repeat the simulation, but Jenny reminds him that he will be late for school. Ali was also anxious and rushed out, followed by Comot.
At school, Puan Munah teaches math class with the topic of compound operations. Ali was sleepy because he was tired from the agent's training earlier. Serik served repeatedly Sarsi raised his hand to answer, Puan Munah suspected Ali for the question asked. From Shaun's whisper next door, Ali gave the answer "x = 3" even though it wasn't algebra or linear equations class, making the whole seagull class burst into laughter. Puan Munah jumps back to Ali's desk and punishes him for standing outside the class. After the class, Mrs. Munah came out to reprimand Ali that the purpose of this punishment was for Ali to learn not to repeat bad behavior, but Ali fell asleep while standing, so Mrs. Munah screamed until it echoed to surprise Ali.
On the way to the canteen, Ali was accompanied by Viktor, complaining that he was still sleepy. Viktor thinks that Ali is playing late into the night and scolds him, but Ali denies it. Agent Bakar disguised as a school cleaner came to pick Ali up quietly with the trick of throwing a box of drinks on the floor. Bakar asked how Ali's training was; with hesitation Ali answered okay. Bakar asked what the problem was; Ali expressed his heart that Agent Rizwan was quite strict in training him. Bakar thinks that Rizwan acts like this to make sure Ali doesn't play around, and even gives him motivation because not everyone gets to study with the greatest agent in M.A.T.A. Receiving M.A.T.A's signal, Ali went to respond with more enthusiasm.
Part 2[]
Ali rushed to the control room, greeted by Jenny. He asks where Agent Rizwan is and suddenly pinched from behind until he passes out by Rizwan who complains about Ali being late. Ali wakes up and listens to a briefing from Jenny that according to the data collected so far, Ali has never used more than 30 percent of the I.R.I.S processor power. Rizwan orders Ali that he now needs to master the device. Ali replied that he would pass out if he overused it. Jenny assures that it could have been avoided if Ali controlled the I.R.I.S. more efficiently because I.R.I.S. works based on reading impulses from his brain. Rizwan explained that the I.R.I.S. is controlled by the mind of the wearer. Stunned, Ali admitted that he was not aware of it all this time.
There are five types of training that Ali had to go through: one-on-one with Rizwan in a dark warehouse, collecting data around the city, jumping invisible platforms, simulating an obstacle course, and fighting an army of droids. All the exercises are presented alternately but rearranged to find out from the viewer's perspective.
Training 1: In the dark warehouse, first Rizwan challenges Ali to attack him until he can. Ali tries to punch Rizwan but is dropped easily, then Rizwan reminds Ali to use the I.R.I.S. Second attempt: Ali clings to the ceiling waiting for Rizwan to appear, then descends and attacks but trips and falls. Third attempt: Ali runs in the dark but is spotted by Rizwan. Fourth attempt: Ali threw a yoyo at Rizwan but was deflected by a lollipop stick throw. Fifth attempt: Ali attacks again but is thrown. Last attempt: Ali throws a yoyo at Rizwan; Rizwan bowed his head but the yoyo exploded behind him. Rizwan made a backflip to avoid it, but was pinched in the back by Ali. Rizwan squatted and tripped him until he fell. Ali complained that it was unfair for Rizwan to do that; Rizwan reminds that the enemy will not act justly.
Training 2: Gathering data from around the city, where Rizwan teaches Ali to change patterns rather than just acting on whatever the I.R.I.S. shows. to select the received input, starting with muting the I.R.I.S function. Ali obeyed Rizwan's orders and saw the data display deleted one by one. Explaining that this way can save energy, Rizwan instructed Ali to concentrate on one type of object in the environment. Ali reinstalled the I.R.I.S. started with the CCTV camera, and found it installed. Then the vehicle and number plate; all the details were collected, and finally the data of the people hanging around.
Training 3: Floating platform turns invisible. For the demonstration, Rizwan jumped back from the stage into the abyss and stepped on a platform, with the message that an agent must be trained to be able to memorize the state of the environment at a glance. Ali looked here and there nervously, not knowing where to jump; Rizwan orders Ali to use I.R.I.S. to help him receive information. Ali did so and tried to find a way, but only managed to locate one or two platforms. After Rizwan used it, Ali jumped but fell into the abyss. Second attempt: Ali almost missed but managed to hang on. Last attempt: I.R.I.S. managed to locate all the platforms, and Ali managed to make the jump.
Training 4: For the obstacle course, Ali receives I.R.I.S. guidance. As follows: Ali uses his Hyper Boost to avoid getting hit on the first stage, jumps four floating leaves, climb the monkey bar on the second stage to avoid the electric floor, and jump on the horizontal pole to reach the end button. Ali sped past the first hurdle but missed and almost fell; fortunately he climbed back up and continued. After the monkey bar, he clings to the pole, reaches the last stage by staggering and presses the button. Use of I.R.I.S. rated unsatisfactory at 36%; Rizwan said that the input from the I.R.I.S. will not be effective if not implemented correctly. The second attempt was smoother, but Ali was still struggling with the pole obstacle, and utilization was still low at 50%. The third attempt saw the use of I.R.I.S. reached 78%; an achievement that earned Jenny praise but Rizwan insisted it wasn't good enough. The final attempt saw Ali successfully land a foot on the pole and jump neatly onto the finish button, achieving a perfect 100%.
Training 5: Ali is surrounded by a group of droids in the corridors of the M.A.T.A. base. Rizwan who was watching from the control room reminded that I.R.I.S. can predict enemy attacks based on movement analysis, so Ali should try to predict more than one move. Ali deflected the droid's shots with a yoyo spin. One of the droids fired a Ballistic projectile; Ali dodged and crashed to face another droid pointing a weapon at him. Rizwan urges Ali to hurry, but Ali complains that it is difficult because there are too many enemies. Over time, Ali used I.R.I.S. to fully analyze the match patterns of all droids. Ali uses Aero Boots to dodge all the shots, then throws a yoyo to pop one droid's arm, dragging it to shoot down another droid. Ali also played with another droid by baiting and jumping until it was shot by other droids.
After finishing training, Ali waited in the control room while Rizwan talked to Jenny about Ali's training. After that, Rizwan congratulates him for showing good improvement, then tells him that there will be a final training session tomorrow, and if Ali passes, he can go back to the mission. Ali offers Rizwan a lollipop as a gift knowing that Rizwan likes to suck on lollipop, but Rizwan refuses and tells Ali that "we're here to practice, not to make friends," making Ali sulk.
Agent Bakar, who is still undercover at school, welcomes Ali's return, who appears to be eating a lollipop like Rizwan. Ali recounted the compliments he received from Rizwan, but at the same time expressed his regret for Rizwan's seemingly arrogant attitude. To that end, Bakar took Ali to sit with him in the canteen to explain that Rizwan had behaved in such a way since the loss of his mentor, the INVISO Pillar Leader who "died" in the story that had been told in the power generation system mission. Alicia suddenly appears and scolds Ali and Bakar for discussing M.A.T.A. in an open place like a canteen. Bakar also announced the success of Ali's training to Alicia, but Alicia told her not to have too much fun. Ali asked why; Alicia thinks back to when she was saved by Ali at the power station, then she says that he should watch out and then leaves.
Part 3[]
Agent Rizwan enters the control room, greeted by Ali who arrived early, to conduct the final test that will determine Ali's fate in the M.A.T.A. Jenny explains that her objective is to spy on confidential information contained in the server of the mercenary force called Kumpulan Tedung. Ali asks who they are, but Rizwan stops Jenny from answering because it is confidential information for Ali. Jenny points out the target's location inside the underground complex, and the entrance is a secret tunnel located south of the Cyberaya industrial area.
Following Jenny's instructions, Ali and Rizwan first entered the underground complex through the cargo elevator shaft, hiding on the roof of the elevator car until the soldiers riding the elevator came out. After that, the two of them went down quietly and exited the elevator door. Rizwan plans to turn off the alarm system, while Ali goes to find the server room to snoop. Handing over the drive to Ali, Rizwan orders him not to go out without the necessary intelligence. Ali nodded his head and hurried to the destination. After hiding for a while to avoid detection by the mercenaries, Ali turned right and met the path of the electric floor. To overcome this obstacle, he uses Aero Boots to walk parkour on the wall.
When approaching the door of the server room guarded by two mercenaries, he ducked and threw things to distract them. A mercenary went looking, while Ali crawled on the ceiling beam, then came down and fell on another soldier. He cracked the door lock code, dragged the soldier inside, inserted the drive and copied the desired data. The alarm went off suddenly, Ali was shocked and tried to call Rizwan but couldn't connect. Five mercenaries came, shooting at Ali. Ali uses the yoyo to block the shots and knock down all the soldiers. Once all the intelligence data was copied, Ali unplugged the drive and rushed out.
Once again Ali found an electric floor, now with the addition of a sentry shooter on the ceiling; a mercenary also approached from behind. Once again Ali put on Aero Boots and did parkour on the wall, but was hit by a shot from the sentry. He immediately put on Aero Boost to avoid falling and cross the floor safely. Then, Ali's exit was suddenly blocked by a shutter door in the middle of the corridor. Ali uses I.R.I.S. to locate and break into the power source to reopen the door, but are hit by tear gas spray. A group of mercenaries arrived and took aim at him, along with a ceiling sentry gunner located there. Ali's anxiety peaked when a soldier appeared to try to stomp on his head.
Suddenly, the lights flashed and all the mercenaries got dizzy and disturbed in the head. I.R.I.S. is undergoing a major change, marked by a beam of dazzling white light from the glasses. Ali stood up and looked up at the ceiling, and I.R.I.S. make the sniper shoot at all the mercenaries. Ali understood that this new power could take control of any focused object, so he used I.R.I.S. to open the shutter door and continue to escape. He is chased again by the mercenaries and again meets the electric floor; this time he used his new power to turn off the electricity and walk on it, then put it back on to stun the pursuing soldiers. In the middle of the intersection, Ali closed all the road gates to take cover. He opened a door to take a look, but was met by a soldier and proceeded to close it again. I.R.I.S. found all the doors were ambushed by mercenaries, so Ali tried to get out through the ceiling air duct before the mercenaries breached the barrier. Ali came out through the tunnel outside the complex almost exhausted, greeted by Rizwan who smiled before blacking out.
Ali regained consciousness in the control room, greeted by Rizwan and Jenny. In a distressed state, Ali asked Rizwan why he disappeared. Rizwan persuaded Ali to be patient and explained that the training was to test Ali's ability to act alone in the mission and even congratulated Ali for completing the mission for the first time without any help. Ali asks what happened with the I.R.I.S. at the end of the mission; Jenny explained, that when Ali was faced with a threat, the impulse reading from his brain increased rapidly and made the power of the I.R.I.S. processor reach 100 percent and automatically change to a new level; Rizwan pronounced its name, "I.R.I.S. Override Mode." Jenny added, that this function allows I.R.I.S. break into a nearby network and take control of all the systems in it, but he wonders why there is no record of such functionality in the I.R.I.S. project files. Rizwan thinks that it is related to the reason the project was cancelled. Jenny plans to investigate further before reporting to the General, while Rizwan disperses Ali.
Ali returned home safely. Answering the doorbell, he greeted the return of Bakar and Comot with joy. Ali thanks Bakar for helping to take care of Comot at school, even though Comot is not very friendly with Bakar. With the aim of showing the Override Mode method to Bakar, Ali tried to install the television with I.R.I.S but failed. Bakar thought that Ali was hungry and invited him out to eat, and Ali was the one doing the shopping. Before he could do that, Ali received a signal from Agent Rizwan for a mission and asked to leave. Bakar let Ali go with regret for not being able to hang out with Ali.
