Ghazali is Ali's biological father. He is one of the main Pioneers/Innovators for Cyberaya. He is one of the head of Innovators Foundation (alongside Dr. Mala and Dr. Tong) and is responsible for Computer and Electronics department. He is a busy working man and a single father who tried his best to raise his son alone while drowning in works.
Ghazali styled his hair with a side-part and combed his bang to the right side, and sported a classic full beard. He wore a pair of glasses, a white dress shirt underneath his bunker-coloured sweater, and a brown trouser.
When Aliya was around, he wore a maroon sweater instead of his usual sweater.
He is often seen with his phone or tablet, and a briefcase on his hand.
Personality[]
Ghazali is a family man who love his wife and his son deeply, but the passing of Aliya changed the dynamic between him and Ali. He went from a loving and happy father to an overwork tired father who is distanced from his son. Although distanced, they still share a bond and Ali still seeks affection from him often instead of avoiding him, indicating that he is still a warm father when he wasn't drowning in work.
He loves his wife, Aliya, deeply and is devoted to her, and is still grieving over her death even after a decade has passed. He is especially moody on their wedding day as it reminded him of his lost wife.
He is described to be a caring father who wants the best for Ali and is always giving him chances, while at the same time wanting Ali to be disciplined as well, as seen by him lecturing Ali on keeping the house clean[2].
He is a kind man in that one visit to Pinggiran was enough for him to lead the Pinggiran Development Project, and he tried to convince Dato' Othman to give him time so he can designed a cheaper machine, as those extra moneys can be used for other useful things.
History[]
Pre-Series Life[]
In the earlier concepts, Dr. Ghazali is the one who invents the I.R.I.S.. A cyber villain named Neonimus wants the invention and kidnaps him, but the I.R.I.S. is in the safe hands of his son, Ali. In order to rescue him, Ali uses the I.R.I.S. and becomes an agent, along with Bakar and Comot.
In the final concept, many of the early concepts have been redesigned or abandoned. Though, Dr. Ghazali remains as a computer engineer, which is similar to the early concept. It is revealed in MISSION: COMOT that his wife had died and he feels guilty for unable to take care of Ali as he is too busy at work and only comes back at late night.
Season 1[]
MISSION: I.R.I.S: Dr. Ghazali made a phone call to Ali in the morning, informing him that he has banked in his allowances and wanted Ali to buy breakfast for himself. Ali did not respond, making Dr. Ghazali shouted through the phone as he is in disbelief that his son is still sleeping as he is late to school.
Dr. Ghazali made his first physical appearance in MISSION: COMOT where he was seen eating breakfast and working on his tablet. Ali went to the dining room and smiled at him, waiting for something. Ghazali was surprised to see him wake up early that day, and told Ali to take out the trash after breakfast. He was confused to see Ali's unusual behaviour. Ali asked sadly if he has forgotten, and Ghazali doesn't understand Ali's question. Ali received a phone call from Viktor, who wished him "Happy Birthday" and show him the video game he gave Ali as his birthday gift. Ali ended the call with the promise to play with Viktor later, and saw Ghazali and a hastily put sandwiches with a candle on it, as he says "Happy Birthday" happily. Ali avoided Ghazali's touch and sulked as he realized his father has forgotten his birthday, and took out the trash while Ghazali tried to make excuses claiming he was just pretending to surprise Ali.
While Ali was taking out the trash, he saw a dirty cat running from Syed and Shaun, and mistook the cat as Labu, their previous family cat. Ali saved "Labu" from a car accident and fled from Syed and Shaun into his home who was angry with Ali and "Labu" for breaking his tamagotchi. Syed and Shaun banged on his door angrily, until Ghazali went out to greet the guests. Syed and Shaun changed track immediately and pretended to be polite, and Ghazali told Ali that it was nice to have good friends. After they left, Ali excitedly show "Labu" to Ghazali and Ghazali told Ali that the cat isn't Labu. Ali asked if he can keep it, and Ghazali refused as its too much work to take care of a cat. Ali insisted, and "Labu" accidentally spilled water on Ghazali's tablet, annoying Ghazali. He scolded Ali and told him that he can barely keep his room clean, how can he possibly take care of a cat? Ali brought up about Labu again, and Ghazali snapped at him that Labu is long gone, as the cat ran away after Aliya dies. Ghazali regretted his word and leave for work, shaking his head as he regretted making his son sad and reminding him of his dead mother on his birthday.
Ghazali returned very late into the night and saw his home in disarray thanks to Ali and Comot. He saw Ali, who fell asleep on the living room floor while watching TV, and carried him to his bedroom. He found Ali hugging a photo frame and took it, looking at it sadly. Comot entered the room and rubbed herself on Ghazali's leg, and Ghazali petted her on the head. He placed the frame and Ali's birthday gift on his bedside table, before closing the door and let Ali and Comot sleep.
MISSION: RISE UP: Aaron, who escaped from his jail, invented Neuro-Link, a gadget that regressed a person's mind back to a toddler's mind and steal all their knowledge and memories in it. He has targeted Dr. Tong and Dr. Mala, and his next target is Dr. Ghazali. Ali was benched from the mission as he skipped the previous mission and also because personal emotion would compromised the mission, but he disobeyed the order regardless and went to save Ghazali from Aaron. With the help of Alicia, Bakar, and Comot, they managed to take down Aaron and save Dr. Ghazali from potential regression. That night, when Ghazali returned from his work, Ali ran to hug him at the front door and Ali told him that he was waiting for Ghazali, and they went to the dining room to eat together. Ghazali noticed Ali limping due to Aero Boots, but Ali lied to him that he fell off his scooter. Ali gave him a coffee and sandwiches, and they talked to each other that night.
Season 2[]
MISSION: ACADEMY: Ghazali fell asleep on the living room sofa, and was woken up forcefully when he fell off the sofa. He looked at his phone and realized Ali is late to school, and rushed to wake him up, only to sees his bed empty. He went to the dining room and saw a cup of coffee, sandwiches, and a handwritten note from Ali informing him that he is leaving for school.
MISSION: PLAY: Ghazali was late to his work and told Ali that his allowance is at dining room, and told him not to forget to eat. Comot begged for food from him, but as he was too late, he ignored it, only saying goodbye and telling Comot to keep an eye on Ali, not noticing Viktor standing in front of the door looking at him. Viktor awkwardly said his good morning to him, and Ghazali got embarassed, and tried to pretend he wasn't talking to Comot. He invited Viktor inside and told him Ali is upstairs and for them to have fun playing.
While at the train station, Ghazali saw the escalator stopped working, the entry barrier malfunctioning, the ticket machine spewing out tickets, and the lights flickering, making him confused with what's going on. The announcement told the passenger to calm down as they try to fix the situation, but the power went out and leaving everyone in the dark. Ali was later assigned to track down Neonimus at the train station. That night, Ali and Viktor played video games late into the nights, and Ali scored a Super-Mega-Combo-Ultra-Platinum Highscore. Ghazali knocked on his bedroom door and Ali ended his call with Viktor and pretended to fell asleep as Ghazali walked in. Ghazali thought Ali has fell asleep while playing video games, and tucked him in and patted him on the head, making Ali smile with the affections he received. He closed the door, and both him and Ali are unaware of the brief Neonimus logo flickering on Ali's tablet screen.
MISSION: MILK: Ghazali woke up to an alarm reminding him of "The Biggest Day!", and Ghazali sighed dejectedly. He took his drinking cup to the dining room only to see it in mess - full sink, full trash, Comot eating from the trash, and when he turned around, he saw the living room messy too, and he accidentally stepped on Ali's game controller, making him angry, shouting for Ali to come downstairs. Ali woke up from his sleep and ran downstairs, and Ghazali scolded him to keep the house organized. Ali apologized and told him that he was too tired to clean up yesterday, although he did plan to do so. Ghazali, unaware of his son agent schedule and Academy involvement, told Ali that he was more tired than Ali as he has to work day and night for the household, and Ali is grown now, so he should help with house chores. Ali apologized and promised to clean later, and Ghazali scolded him to clean now and not to procrastinate, and he went upstairs to prepare for work and presentation later.
Ali was suspended from Academy and walked home, only to find out he forgot his house keys. He called Ghazali and asked him to come home to open the door for him, and Ghazali refused as he is still in work hour. Ali asked if he can goes to Gamma Tower to retrieve the key, but he refused again as he already told Ali he is busy with work and presentation that day. He told Ali to wait out at Aunt Faizah's house and told Ali not to behave himself. He called Aunt Faye for help to let his son stay for a while.
Ali, overwhelmed with babysitting Danish, asked Bakar for help. Bakar asked Ali why he didn't use I.R.I.S. to get into his own home, and Ali just realized he can do exactly that. They cleaned up Aunt Faye's home and put Danish to sleep, and went back home. Ali was surprised to see how adept Bakar is with kids, and Bakar told him that Ali was a more difficult toddler than Danish was. He showed him Ali's baby photos and told him that he used to visit Ali often back when Aliya was alive. Ali was surprised to see Ghazali laughing in photos and drawing on windows with Ali, and Bakar told him that Ghazali used to be very happy. Ali told Bakar that he's not as happy nowadays, too busy to do anything with Ali, and even scold him for no reason. Bakar remembered what day today was and show Ali the wedding photo of Ghazali and Aliya 14 years ago, telling him that today was their wedding anniversary. Ali finally understood the reason behind his father's moodiness.
That night, Ghazali returned to a clean home and went to the dining room to made himself a cup of coffee. He looked at the empty space in front of him and felt lonely. He saw a giftbox on the living room's coffee table, and opened the card to see it from Ali and Comot. He opened the box and was moved to tears as he saw the wedding photo of him and Aliya, and hugged the photo to his heart, crying from grief over his late wife.
MISSION: NEO[]
While Ali was busy saving Dato' Othman from a terrorist attack, Ghazali and Viktor were doing house cleaning at Ghazali and Ali's home. Ghazali received a call telling him that the launch ceremony to his project is cancelled due to a terrorist attack on Dato' Othman, and Ghazali was distraught by it. He absent-mindedly placed the stuff he was collecting inside the box Viktor was organizing, annoying Viktor as he has spent three hours cleaning and said action is setting him back. Ghazali asked Viktor about Ali's whereabouts as he hasn't seen him in a while, and Viktor informed him that Ali was cleaning upstairs. Ali sneaked back inside his home through the window of his room, and heard his father calling for him.
Ghazali saw the item upstairs are still messy and unorganized, and walked into the storage room, seeing Ali moving boxes around. He asked what was Ali doing this whole time, and Ali responded cheekily that the boxes was outside just now, and now it's inside the room. Ghazali received another call while lecturing Ali about how they promised to clean the house today as tomorrow Ghazali will be busy, and Ghazali answered the call, telling his subordinates, Aida, to get the deposit they have payed previously returned back to them. He was seen extremely annoyed with the work calls he kept receiving, and Ali bothered him by showing him a toy ball on his ball. Ghazali slapped the ball from Ali's hand angrily, surprising Ali. He scolded Ali to keep things organized, not to make things messy again, and that his son is grown now, so this should have been common sense, not taught anymore. The storage rack fell down, and Viktor heard the commotion.
Mrs. Ong arrived at that moment with satays she bought and they went to eat at the dining room together. Ghazali apologized to Mrs. Ong for dragging Viktor along, but she dismissed it, saying that if Viktor were going to made Ali's home like his own, then he should clean it like his own home too. Mrs. Ong took a plate of food for Viktor, and Ali looked at Ghazali who took a plate for himself instead of for Ali. Mrs. Ong took a plate for Ali, and Ali watched as Viktor and Mrs. Ong bonded during meals and he looked at his father, noticing the difference in the intimacy between Viktor and his mother, and between him and his father.
When they finished their satay, Mrs. Ong took out an extra container, showing them the biscuit she baked. Viktor eat them excitedly as Mrs Ong has baked his favourite biscuit, and Viktor offered for Ali to eat it as well. Ali glanced at his busy father who is answering work calls again, and then at Viktor who were thanking Mrs. Ong for bringing his favourite biscuit and Mrs. Ong who patted his head with a loving smile. Ali stared at them in silent jealousy as he wished his father would dote on him like that too.
Later, at night, while Ali was cleaning up the remaining stuff, he found a box containing all of Aliya's treasure. He took it out and looked at it one-by-one, and found a tablet containing his baby photos and videos of them as a family. He watched Ghazali recording a toddler Ali playing hide-and-seek with his parents, and he found Ghazali first. Ghazali talked to him sweetly and asked Ali where Mama is, and Ali looked around for Aliya, who was hiding behind the sofa. When Ali couldn't find Aliya, he plopped down crying, and Aliya ran out of her hiding spot to hugged Ali and comforted him. Aliya tried to calm Ali down with toys, but Ali threw the toys away, until Aliya pulled out a handmade music box, playing a lullaby for Ali, and Ali fell asleep in the comfort of his mother's hold and the sweet music. Aliya looked at Ali lovingly and then turned her loving gaze to Ghazali, who was still recording the whole situation. Ali cried and hugged the tablet, missing his mother and the old times when they were a happy family. He played with the music box from the video but spun it the wrong way, revealing a pendrive with "Robin" logo containing encrypted data that Ali cannot decrypt.
The next day, Ghazali rushed to his work and informed Ali that he's leaving now.
After General Rama reported to Dato' Othman about Ali's mission to capture Abang Bear, Dato' Othman left for a meeting with the pioneers of Cyberaya to discuss about the most advanced factory project they want to build at Pinggiran. Dr. Ghazali informed Dato' Othman about the delay of the launch ceremony, and Dato' Othman cancelled the delay, telling him to proceed as usual. Vikram informed Dato' Othman that he will get the energy supplies on time, and Dato' Othman asked for Dr. Ghazali's progress next. Dr. Ghazali showed him the blueprint of his project, but requested for more time as the current project is too cost-consuming, and with more time, Dr. Ghazali could create a more refined and cheaper machine. Dato' Othman rejected his request and told him to just proceed, and that he can use however much money Dr. Ghazali wanted. Dr. Ghazali tried to argue back, as it's better to cut cost and spent the extras on something else, and Dato' Othman refused, as he doesn't want anything to impede his progress. Vikram agreed with Dato' Othman. Dato' Othman threaten Dr. Ghazali to proceed or he will find another person to replace him. Dr. Ghazali kept quiet, and think to himself about Dato' Othman words dejectedly.
After Niki's targeted attack on Dato' Othman at Cyberaya Hall, Ali took Ghazali and Viktor to see Pinggiran and Mak Yah. Ghazali was confused to see the state of the place. He spearheaded the Pinggiran Development Project alongside Dr. Mala and Dr. Tong, with the promise that the Innovators Foundation (Yayasan Peneraju) will cover the full cost of it. Ali looked at his father on the news proudly, while he was on a meal with Bakar, Alicia, Comot, General Rama, Rahul, Rajesh, Razman, Fit, and Bobby.
Season 3[]
MISSION: ARENA: Ghazali followed Comot to the dining room, and saw Ali prepare breakfast for them. Ali asked if he has time to eat with him, and Ghazali joined Ali for breakfast. He told Ali that he is starting a new project and that he has a new boss now - Dato' Hisham. Ali asked about Dato' Othman and he told Ali that he is still recovering. Ghazali informed Ali that he has signed the permission slip for Stamp Club field trip, and although Ali was confused as he has never heard of it, he pretended to know about it and thanked Ghazali for signing it.
MISSION:S.A.T.R.I.A.[]
While S.A.T.R.I.A. was rampaging M.A.T.A. HQ and Cero steal S.A.T.R.I.A. from Ali and held Alicia hostage, Dato' Othman, Dayang, Ganz, Amir, Elle, Dr. Ghazali, Dr. Mala, and Dr. Tong were escorted to an unknown island on Cyberaya in order to protect them, under the procedure of "Island Protocol". Ghazali was confused with the sudden move and commotion, and asked Dato' Othman for explanation. Dato' Othman only told him that Cyberaya is under threat and that they were brought here for their own safety, confusing Ghazali further with his vague explanation. Amir promised to explain everything to Ghazali later as he escorted him to the bunker, and Ghazali asked about his son, worrying that Ali was left behind and not taken alongside him if Cyberaya was really under threat. Amir promised to handle the matter of his son and tell Ghazali not to worry. Dayang and Ganz told Amir and Elle about S.A.T.R.I.A. current location, and Amir and Elle told them to go by themselves, as they will stay behind to protect them. Dayang and Ganz taunt Amir and Elle before leaving, asking them what's the point of being a Pillar Leader, if they are too afraid to participate in field work and hands-on mission.
Ali is Ghazali's biological son. Ghazali used to be a loving and warm father to Ali, joining him on drawing at the windows, or playing hide-and-seek with him, until Aliya's death changed their dynamic. While he is still loving and warm, he is also stricter and a little withdrawn, as he has to play the serious adult role in order to make sure Ali is disciplined. His heavy workload makes him sometimes neglected his son, such as forgetting his birthday, coming home late, etc. Ali sometimes felt lonely as his father is often busy and can't do a lot of things or play with him. Although Ghazali is a little withdrawn, he still loves his son still such as tucking him in bed, giving him his birthday gift, and worried about leaving his son behind during "Island Protocol". Ali often seeks affection and attention from him, and would go to extreme lengths to save or protect Ghazali, and often enjoyed any affection he receives from Ghazali.
Aliya was Ghazali's beloved wife. She dies when Ali was very young, leaving Ghazali to take care of their only child alone. He loved her deeply and was the happiest when Aliya was around. After her death, he has to play the serious adult role for Ali while drowning in work. He missed her often and still grieved for her, even after a decade has passed. He still save and remember their wedding anniversary, even though he no longer has the chance to spend it with her together.
Bakar: Bakar was Aliya's younger brother, and Ghazali's brother-in-law. They have never seen interacting face-to-face in the series, but Bakar seems to accept Ghazali as his brother-in-law. He used to visit Ghazali, Aliya, and Ali often when Aliya was around, but stopped after her death. He worries about putting Ali in too much danger as he wouldn't know how to face Ghazali if Ali got seriously injured during agent work[3]. Bakar saved photos of Ghazali's wedding and photos of Ghazali and toddler Ali in his phone, even after 14 years have passed[4].
Comot is Ali and Ghazali's pet cat. Ghazali initially rejected Ali's request to keep her around, as taking care of a cat is too much work. He lets Ali kept her eventually, and seems to enjoy Comot's company a lot, as seen by him petting her[5] and talking to her sweetly[6][7]. Comot even preferred Ghazali over Ali, as she snuggled up to him and ignore Ali's treat for her[8].
Dato' Othman: Dato' Othman is Ghazali's employer and superior. Othman dislikes anyone who disrupt his Cyberaya progress, and that includes Ghazali as well, as he threaten to replace Ghazali if he doesn't proceed as usual or missed the deadline. Othman trust Ghazali's skill in electronic and computing enough to hire Ghazali as one of the Head Innovators of Cyberaya.
Viktor & Mrs. Ong: Viktor is Ali's best friend and Mrs. Ong is Viktor's mother. Viktor often comes to Ali's house to play or study, so Ghazali is familiar with him enough to let him join their house cleaning and letting him inside the house even when Ghazali was about to leave for work. Viktor calls him "Dr. G". Mrs. Ong is okay with Ghazali using her son to clean their house, as she thinks Viktor should clean Ali's house like his own since he often commute and stay at Ali's home all the time to play or hang out with Ali.
Aunt Faye: Aunt Faye is Ghazali's neighbour. When Ali forgot his house keys, Ghazali made him stayed at Aunt Faye's house. They are familiar enough with each other that they can do favors for each other anytime.

His voice is first heard from Ali's phone in MISSION: IRIS.
His first appearance is in the exclusive festive season promo video, titled MISSION: RAYA, where Ali tells viewers to get up on their feet and welcome their guests during the festive season, and not ignore the guests.
Ali used to call Ghazali with "Papa" when he was a toddler[9], but as he grew older, he called him with "Ayah" instead.
Ghazali featured in an eid-special mini episode called MISI: RESIPI[10]. He also featured in Vlog Ali, a collection of short videos detailing Ali's life[8].
