MISSION: CHALLENGE (Malay: MISI: CABAR) is the eighteenth episode of Agent Ali. It is also the fifth episode of Season 2. It is aired on 17th November, 2017.
Synopsis[]
An agent working for Uno infiltrates M.A.T.A. Academy!
Plot[]
The M.A.T.A. Academy trainees are undergoing a simulated training where they have to go through an obstacle course in the form of a spiral staircase to claim a medal at the top of a high platform. Rudy, the second to last player, does a very smooth run: climbs the ramp at the bottom, jumps over the shrinking barrier, runs parkour on the wall across a wide gap, zips and jumps through the rings, runs the rest of the stairs until he is bombarded with shots from the droids above as the stairs turn into a ramp, does some more parkour while throwing a Shadow Cuff at one of the droids, jumps onto the platform while controlling the droid to shoot down the other droids and help it bounce up so that it can sweep the Inviso-emblazoned medal.
Agent Leon announces that Rudy has achieved a new record of 40 seconds. Receiving thunderous cheers from his friends, Rudy smiles sarcastically at Ali, the next player. Alicia tells Ali to focus and not worry about Rudy, but Ali doesn't listen to her words.
Ali starts the run with a shaky start; despite using his I.R.I.S. but he failed to jump accurately and fell off the contracting barrier. Ali put on his Aero Boots to rush straight to the rope barrier, where he managed to pass through the ring and land safely on the stairs. According to I.R.I.S.'s message that the stairs would fold into a ramp, he tried to jump to the end but didn't go far enough, so he fell and slipped. Ali sent a yoyo to the rope; he almost hit the ring but managed to stop himself with his Aero Boots. Seeing Ali's condition, Rudy grinned, Alicia was nervous and Khai also cheered. Ali went back up the stairs and received I.R.I.S.'s warning of a droid shot. He jumped straight to the platform, spun the yoyo to block the shot, stomped on one of the droid with his Aero Boots, jumped again and knocked down all the droids with his yoyo's electromagnetic beam; this action earned praise from Agent Bakar and a sneer from an envious Rudy. However, when Ali was about to claim his medal, he was suddenly sucked back into the platform, signaling that time was up.
Agent Leon disappointedly commented that Ali's performance was disappointing. Ali protested on the grounds that he had already passed all the obstacles, but Leon pointed out that it took him five minutes to complete the run that his friends could do in a minute or two, and therefore needed more practice. Ali walked away sullenly until he bumped into Rudy who was posing as Ali to make fun of him, drawing laughter from the other friends.
Suddenly, an alarm went off. Leon called Agent Geetha to ask what was going on. Geetha rushed to the control room and checked, then informed that the Academy's security system had been breached. Bakar planned to find other mentors. Asked by Khai, Leon assured that Agent Geetha was managing the situation and called on the students to prepare to implement the Fortress Protocol. Except for Ali who was unfamiliar with the protocol, the other students prepared by taking out their gadgets. Asked about the status by Leon, Geetha said that she had managed to prevent the intruder from further reaching the system and was looking for the cause, but the alarm went off and the intruder disappeared.
At Numeros headquarters, Cinco breathes a sigh of relief because he managed to disconnect before being detected by M.A.T.A. in an attempt to hack his system. Asked by Uno what happened, Cinco complains that M.A.T.A.'s system has been upgraded a lot since she left the agency. Uno asks about the progress of his efforts, then Cinco states that I.R.I.S. has been found, but surprisingly, it is still with Ali. Uno sneers that M.A.T.A. made a big mistake by still relying on I.R.I.S. to the boy and calls Ocho to perform.
Some time later, Ali arrives at school riding a scooter and bringing a Comot. There he is greeted by Viktor who invites him to attend an inter-school e-sports tournament that he will participate in next month. Ali can't hide his gloomy face because he is still impressed by his lackluster performance in the simulation training. Realized by Viktor, he makes up an excuse that he is often harassed by a classmate who shows off his stamp collection. Viktor said it was a trivial matter as they both walked to class, unaware that they were being stalked by Sasidaran.
Sasidaran came out of hiding and snapped at Viktor to remind him that today would be the day for the history test results. Sasidaran was angry because Viktor had beaten him in the previous test results and vowed to get even. Before he could finish speaking, the school bell rang, so Ali and Viktor hurried away, leaving Sasidaran growling.
In class, Mrs. Munah announced the results of the history test, which Alicia won first place. Boy suddenly clapped his hands, causing the entire class to cheer, while Sasidaran slammed the table in disappointment. Mrs. Munah continued to announce that Sasidaran won second place, so Sasidaran boasted loudly until Mrs. Munah reprimanded him for "getting out of here." Viktor remained oblivious to his standing with Sasidaran.
After school, Sasidaran showed off in front of Viktor for beating his history test score and determined to beat Alicia later. Viktor calmly said "Good, keep going." Ali, who was accompanying Viktor to play on the tablet, asked Viktor about Sasidaran's troubles, and Viktor replied that he didn't care about his position as long as he did his best while learning to be wiser, and that he didn't study to compete with other students. Those words made Ali think, while Viktor suddenly frowned because his highest score in the game was surpassed by another player.
At the M.A.T.A Academy mentor meeting, General Rama questions whether the entire system is completely secure without any information leaks or embedded destructive devices. Agent Geetha confirms that there are no suspicious traces and comments that the intrusion seems to have no motive. Agent Karya suspects that the system may simply be experiencing a disturbance without any intruders, so Geetha responds with uncertainty. The General tells them that they must all be vigilant because they could be attacked by the enemy at any time. Agent Bakar agrees and reminds them that there are "important assets" that need to be guarded at the Academy.
Ali attends the Academy with a sullen face, greeted by his friends who whisper. Khai shouts to be careful and Ali almost gets hit by Khai's R-O robot that speeds past. Khai goes to ask how he is, so Ali hesitates to reply. Moon also arrives to greet him, but finds that Ali is slow to respond to Khai's greeting, so Ali complains that he is looked down upon by his other friends. Moon thinks that Ali has been slandered since yesterday for failing to stand out despite wearing an I.R.I.S. Khai was annoyed by Moon's impudent words but also wondered how Ali could defeat Djin when his skill level was not that great. So Ali told him about I.R.I.S.'s "Override Mode".
At the meeting, Agent Leon thought it would be effective if Ali was sent to defeat Uno if Override Mode was as great as it was rumored. The General denied it by reminding him that Override Mode, no matter how great, was a very unstable function and therefore was the reason for the I.R.I.S. project to be stopped, and even the core leaders gave a stern warning not to ever reactivate it. Agent Karya asked what was so troubling, so General said that Ali was controlled by I.R.I.S. when fighting Uno.
Khai asked Ali if he would be stronger than the others if he entered Override Mode, so Ali answered maybe. Moon was excited by the answer and suggested that Ali could defeat Rudy with the mode. Khai rebuked Moon's words, so Moon admitted to being joking, and Ali just laughed shyly.
Agent Bakar brings up the tension between Ali and Rudy. Therefore, Leon suggests that Ali and Rudy be combined into one team. That is what Bakar does by including Rudy along with Ali and Alicia in his team for the next mission.
Agent Bakar takes his men, including Comot, to the C-Tech weapons manufacturing factory to investigate the incident of the security system being turned off. Bakar admires the sophistication of the automation in the factory that does not rely on human operation. Ali blurts out that he just realized that there was no one in the factory, so Rudy mocks him for not realizing it even though he uses I.R.I.S. Ali starts complaining about being paired with Rudy, so Bakar tells him that it is the mentors' wish for them to get to know each other and learn together. Ali denies it, so this invites Alicia's scolding who demands that Ali focus on the mission instead of looking for friends. Bakar agrees and invites his men to find the security room. Ali grumbles until he realizes that he is behind and catches up.
Rudy was already in the smelting room and pointed the way. Alicia entered the smelting room and looked around with Rudy. Comot meowed and pointed at the broken CCTV camera, so Alicia and Rudy went to take a look. Under the camera was a pile of black fine objects. Alicia picked up one of the black objects and called Agent Bakar. Bakar and Ali had just entered while chatting about Ali's problem with Rudy, so Rudy and Alicia were hurt. Rudy criticized Ali for cursing him, and Ali ridiculed Rudy for being busy. Rudy urged Ali to talk face to face instead of being a coward, but Ali insisted on not being on his team. Bakar tried to ease the tension but the argument escalated.
As Ali and Rudy argued, small black objects began to gather, and even the one in Alicia's hand flew away. Alicia stretched to get Ali and Rudy's attention, so they realized that the black crowd had transformed into hands and tried to hit them. Bakar called for Ali and Rudy to retreat and tried to block with a Plasma Shield, but he was hit and captured. Dragging by a large black hand, Bakar roared for Ali. Ali wanted to go help but was stopped by Alicia because she wanted him to take care of I.R.I.S.
The three agent trainees were attacked again by the black crowd. Ali parried with a yoyo spin, Alicia swung and Rudy flipped the kuang to avoid, while Comot ran out of the smelting room. Rudy urged Ali to think and use I.R.I.S. to detect the source of the black crowd, but Ali refused. Alicia repeated Rudy's urging, so Ali agreed and installed the X-ray feature and found the board behind the dividing wall. So he rushed there, followed by Alicia and Rudy. As soon as they arrived, they were almost grabbed by the black crowd. There they came face to face with a tall human-shaped figure with a face like wearing a gas mask who controlled the black crowd.
The board known as Ocho sent the black crowd to attack the three trainees. Alicia swung her yo-yo everywhere, Rudy parried it with a swing, and Ali spun her yo-yo again, but was hit hard until she was thrown to the end. Ali was surrounded and almost swallowed by the crowd but was pulled out with Shadow Cuffs by Rudy who felt embarrassed. Alicia planned to attract the attention of the board, but Ali rushed towards Ocho and planned to use Override Mode.
Cinco appeared on the balcony overlooking the smelting room and mocked Ali's attempt to use Override Mode. Agent Bakar who was still there, still bound by the black crowd, pleaded with "Jenny" to return to the fold of M.A.T.A. Cinco denied being called by that name and controlled his tablet to enlarge Ocho's crowd. Alicia then denounced Cinco as a defector and jumped while shoot a ballistic bullet at her, but was repelled by the crowd like a shield. Rudy jumped to attack Ocho, and Ocho responded by sending the crowd. Rudy chases after and runs through the crowd and throws Shadow Cuffs at Ocho, but he is shot down and hit by the crowd. Ocho immediately removes the Shadow Cuffs. Ali attacks Ocho from behind with a yoyo, so Ocho immediately raises the crowd shield to trap the yoyo. Ocho then orders the crowd to trap Ali by tying him up while forming a dome to cover him while Cinco watches with a grin.
Suddenly, Bakar comes to break the dome and takes out his nephew. Agent Karya appears and throws cards at Ocho, accompanied by Agent Geetha and Agent Leon. Bakar thanks Geetha for helping him free him from the crowd's bonds, while Leon tells Ali to step back because he doesn't want to be disturbed. Agent Karya asks what they are facing, so Geetha calls them Microbugs, small robots that function like pests and are therefore banned from use.
Ocho directs the Microbug crowd towards the four mentors but is parried. Leon scanned Ocho with his data watch and found that his attack range was about 20 meters and his speed was moderate. Then, he took out his Revolver and fired at him. The shots were not very effective, and Ocho responded by throwing Microbug but Leon managed to dodge. Karya fought Microbug with Mystic Blade while asking Leon about the plan. Leon reminded his friends about the Black Water Mission. Bakar caught on and rushed towards Ocho while punching Microbug's shield that was blocking it. Leon shot from Ocho's right, and Ocho immediately blocked with his shield while forming a hand towards Bakar. Karya threw cards to block the hand while Geetha emitted Nano Enhancer towards Bakar to strengthen his attack.
Cinco found that his enemy was concentrating his attack through Bakar and ordered another Microbug to be released. Ocho, who could not speak, growled, so Cinco persuaded him to release another one even though it was dangerous. Ocho threw a cloud of Microbugs at Bakar. Bakar dodged, but Karya was hit and pinned by the leg and about to be devoured. Leon received the Nano Enhancer beam and fired several shots towards the crowd of Microbugs. Bakar punched the Microbug wall again but his hand was blocked. Cinco mocked Bakar's bad luck. At this point, at Leon's call, Karya transformed from the magic cloth behind Ocho, surprising Cinco. Geetha emitted a Nano Enhancer to Karya, and Karya nimbly threw a card until Ocho fell and Microbug was disintegrated.
Bakar prepared to beat Ocho up, but was threatened by Cinco who pointed a gun at him. Bakar pleaded with "Jenny" to make peace, but the laser shot was not blocked. Karya managed to push Bakar away before it was hit, and the laser hit the wall and caused a large hole. Cinco disappeared while Ali went to carry Bakar.
Cinco returned to the headquarters, wiping away his sweat. When questioned by Uno, Cinco was happy to report that everything had gone as planned. He recalled that when Ali was captured, a flying robot was sent into the dome to scan the I.R.I.S. to collect data into the tablet, so now he was in the process of transferring the intelligence from the tablet into Numeros' computer.
