Mak Yah is a minor character in Agent Ali: The Movie. She is the eldest in the slum community, Pinggiran. She happens to be the guardian of Niki whom she took care of since her childhood after rescuing her from Othman's builder robots and destruction of a larger portion of their housing.
Mak Yah has a long, greyish hair until her shoulder that was styled with a mid-part. She wore an orange baju kurung with patterns on it, and a pair of slippers. She often rolled up the sleeves of her baju kurung until her elbow.
Personality[]
Mak Yah is a kind-hearted old lady who looked after Niki after Niki's parents passed away. She looked up to both Aliya and Niki as the beacon of hope for Pinggiran, and is eternally grateful to Aliya for saving her life once. Because of her gratitude to Aliya, she has nothing but kind words for Aliya and also look after Ali for her.
She is concerned and expresses her worry for Niki, how the absence of Aliya made her cold and introverted.
History[]
She narrates to Ali about her community, Niki's past and applauds his mother, Aliya, who she always expresses gratitude for. It is revealed that Aliya and Niki had stolen an artificial heart during their heist at Cyberaya cargo bay, just to rescue Mak Yah from her medically critical condition and because of the heist, she gets to live healthily onward.
She expresses her worry for Niki as she show changes after Aliya left. After revelation of Niki to be the mastermind behind attack on mayor previously, she frees the hostage-held Ali, Alicia and Bakar, while handing Ali his I.R.I.S and motivating him to keep walking the path of his mother to do the right thing and keep on helping others.
After Niki's attack on Dato' Othman was thwarted by Ali, Ali brought Ghazali and Viktor to see the state of Pinggiran and to meet with Mak Yah. Mak Yah, representing Pinggiran, accepted the help and donations received from Innovators Foundation and Dr. Ghazali revealed on TV that the Innovators Foundation - Dr. Ghazali, Dr. Mala, and Dr. Tong - will fully fund and helps develop Pinggiran from now on.
In M.A.T.A. Secret Files (Post Mission: Neo logs), Dayang told Ganz that the Pinggiran development was going steady, thanks to the Innovators Foundation, and Mak Yah was seen smiling and children in Pinggiran are implied to now receive education and gets to go to school as well.
Mak Yah is Niki's guardian after Niki's parents passed away. They both shared a close bond with Niki checking on Mak Yah after Mak Yah was pushed down by a construction bot, and Mak Yah showing concern for Niki as Niki changes after she lost Aliya. Mak Yah sees both Niki and Aliya as a beacon of hope to Pinggiran.
Aliya: Aliya was Niki's best friend. Aliya cares for Mak Yah deeply and even went on a last heist to retrieve an artificial heart for Mak Yah, before she was captured and absorbed into M.A.T.A.. Mak Yah has nothing but kind words and praises for Aliya, and is eternally grateful for all her helps and kindness. Mak Yah sees both Niki and Aliya as a beacon of hope to Pinggiran.
Ali was Aliya's only son. After Ali secured a batch of Azureum for Pinggiran, he was celebrated as the hero and Surya took Ali to see Mak Yah. Mak Yah shares stories about Aliya to Ali, and her concern for Niki. Mak Yah sees the resemblance between Ali and Aliya, as both of them are kind. She helps free Ali, Alicia, and Bakar from Niki's restrained, and validates Ali's kindness.
